The day after

Awww, my aching body. I'm not as fit as I think. But I will be. Legs, arms, back all complaining as I get up after sitting.
Why does reading and writing for classes put me to sleep, when writing for myself creates a buzz stronger than coffee? I really do want to do a good job for my students. I just need to find the impetus to push myself forward.

The baby birds are getting bigger The three of them are reaching their necks over the edge of the nest, beaks open wide, waiting for Mama Bird's input. Cute, but I worry they'll fall one day, just as I worried about my children. Still do.

Ugh! We went to yoga this morning. It was Ren's first time and he did really well. He is not as flexible as I am, but he has strength in his legs that I don't. I was able to keep up pretty well except for lifting my back leg from the Warrior 1 position. Kept falling down, well staggering is more like it. I need to keep practicing. Now I ache here and there when I stand up. My body is telling me that the stretches I do each morning are not enough. And walking is not the same as holding a muscled pose. I suppose it'll get better as the weeks go on.

My office companions

I hear a tiny squeak and turn my head to the window. A little gray head pokes out, pink mouth open waiting for its mother. Another wee head pokes up next to it, another pink mouth opens. I hope they don't lean out too far! Mother bird where are you? Keep an eye on these chicks!

Back to my work.

Still struggling

I'm not sure why this is so difficult to master. A comment I left last night has disappeared. Or did I do something wrong? These things should be intuitive.
Another day of work ahead when the day beckons. Outside my window is a nest in the awning with a sitting bird. I have only seen one wee beak peeking out. I worry that the heat of late afternoon will fry the little thing.  It hasn't yet though and surely the mother bird knows best?

But this is not getting next semester's planning done!

Pressure Cooker

In the heat of summer I struggle with new courses and new technology. My students must blog, so I must do it before them. I'm not exactly being dragged kicking and screaming into this world, but as I thrash around here and encourage them to do the same, I do wonder if this will help them learn to analyze and respond to the multiple texts they will encounter as they progress through their first year in the university. I will learn alongside them.
Good Luck to all of us!
